Photo of the Month: August

One of the things I really like about the new site layout is the way it handles photos. If you haven’t noticed already, if you click the photo on the main page, it brings up a nice windowbox and fades the distraction of the site into the background. This was one of the main reasons I chose to upgrade the site, because I didn’t have any really good ways to handle and post my photographs other than just my gallery, which houses a lot of things. It’s nice to be able to celebrate a particular photo.

Since I’ve really been getting back into my photography lately, I thought I would start picking my favorite photo each month and posting it here on my website with info about the photo. This month’s photo was taken at Belmont Park down by Mission Beach a few weeks ago with my new 50mm lens. Everyone was having a lot of fun on the rides and it was a great place to take some fun and colorful photographs. I need to remember to head down there sometime with my tripod and try to do some cool motion blur photos of the carousel. It would be a great place to practice and this is something I’ve been looking into lately. We have a trip out camping planned this coming weekend, so I should be able to get some nice photos out in the desert or wherever we end up.

    I really like this one.

  2. Thanks, Tom. I enjoy perusing your Beijing photos too. So many of them tell the story about where you are and what a great opportunity to capture a culture. I’m jealous!
