Photo of the Month: January
Jan 31Now that the holidays have past it’s time to get back to my photography in earnest. The day before my 40th birthday, my husband took me to the Children’s Pool over in La Jolla around sunset. Come to find out the locals here call it the “Casa”. The seals and sea lions love to take naps on the shore here and visitors from all around the world come to enjoy the view. Locally, there is a lot of controversy surrounding this pool, since a group of very vocal divers would prefer human access only to this beach. Personally, I think the seals and sea lions were here first, so they should get to hang out. Besides, if you’ve seen them argue with one another, I would prefer to not get on the wrong side of one of them. I’ve heard tell that you can often times spot cows giving birth on this beach. I’ll have to find out what time of year this is most likely and come back for photos then. Either way, I find them to be beautiful creatures and they become almost surreal to look at when they scatter all over the beach scratching their furry tummies.
