Stutter
Stutter
Oct 01
A while back I was supposed to get to sing in a band with some friends of mine in an Irish pub up in Huntington Beach. Unfortunately, some of the folks in the band worked with a current client of the company I was contracting for. Long story short…the contract fell through and I wasn’t able to discuss any of the details of what had happened. As a result, I didn’t get to go play with the band, because Angela @ bar + cocktails = loose lips sinking ships. So instead, I thought I would post up my demo tape. All of the vocals on the track are me. Maybe I’ll get to use it somewhere else. The name of the song is Stutter by Elastica. Click here to take a listen.
**See lyrics below
No need to whine, boy,
Like a wind-up toy you stutter at my feet,
And it’s never the time, boy,
You’ve had too much wine to stumble up my street.
Well it isn’t a problem,
Nothing we can’t keep between the sheets,
Tell me you’re mine, love,
And I will not wait for other bedtime treats.
Is there something you lack,
When I’m flat on my back,
Is there something that I can do for you?
It’s always something you ate,
Or it’s something you hate,
Tell me is it the way that I touch you?
Have you found a new mate,
And is she really great,
Is it just that I’m much too much for you?
Oh, oh oh , ouah oh ah
Don’t feed me a line, boy,
I can hear that voice you use upon the phone,
And there’s no need to be coy,
That is something you can do upon your own.
Well it isn’t problem, nothing we can’t solve so just relax.
Am I on the wrong train, love,
And will I have to tie you to the tracks.
Is there something you lack,
When I’m flat on my back,
Is there something that I can do for you?
It’s always something you ate,
Or it’s something you hate,
Tell me is it the way that I touch you?
Have you found a new mate,
And is she really great,
Is it just that I’m much too much for you?
Oh, oh oh , ouah oh ah
I really want you to
Oh, oh oh , ouah oh ah
I really want you to
Oh, oh oh , ouah oh ah
!!
I have to strain to make you out- not because I can’t hear the vocals, but because it just doesn’t sound much like the voice I remember coming from over the cubicle wall. There are hints, but they’re faint. It’s always interesting to hear the difference between some folks’ singing and speaking voices.
Not bad stuff, though!
Good work cuz! Keep it up!
What’s up girl?!? Sounds pretty good! Did you do the recording on this? If so, take the reverb down a bit, add a de-esser, (if you have one, it’s another effect) and adjust the volume. If you have more stuff, send some to me in .wav format, and I’ll mix them for you. Keep it up! Tell J I said hey!
I did do the recording on this and admittedly don’t know much about mixing music. I just like to sing. I’ll take you up on the mixing piece and probably go back to Garage Band to see how to do what you suggested. I’d love to have more time to spend on music but like most of us this whole work thing is always mussing up my fun time. I’ll tell J you said hola.
